Workshop
Self-experience through Music Therapy

The best way to experience how music can influence one’s psychic condition is to take yourself an active part in a music self-experience session. Both therapists leading this workshop are since many years conducting the weekly music therapy group for the patients at the Menterschwaige Clinic in Munich. The music therapy (the whole name: The human-structural inpatient music therapy) was installed there in the 70-80’ years of the late century by Dr. Rolf Schmidts, afterwards continued and further developed by Dr. Egon Fabian. This specific developed in the School of Dynamic Psychiatry art of using music to enhance the development of one’ identity and personality structure which focuses on individual contact between participants as well as on the dynamics of the group as a whole can bring a unique self-experience feeling to the participants. The specific theoretical concept of this expressive-creative use of music within a dynamic group process will be shortly introduced at the beginning of the workshop.
