The Dynamic-Psychiatric Concept of Aggression

Already in 1968 Günter Ammon abandoned the notion of aggression as primarily directed towards destruction. On the contrary he understood aggression in the sense of „agredi“ as a constructive force as generally understood (Ammon 1970). Aggression is supporting all constructive expressions of life which relate man to other human beings and objects. In other words: Aggression sustains the ability for acting and living in groups as well as for identity development.

Dr. Ilse Burbiel is a psychological psychotherapist and psychoanalyst (DAP) in private practice and is a training analyst/therapist in individual and group psychotherapy as well as in dance therapy in Munich. She was head of research at the Munich training and research institute of DAP, and for many years she was head psychologist of the Dynamic-Psychiatric hospital, Klinik Menterschwaige.
Her special areas in research and science are:

  • Analytic group dynamics
  • Research in psychotherapy
